I think that there are TWO christmas songs that are totally overlooked during the holidays.

“what is this lovely fragrance”    &

“lully, lulla, thou little tiny child”

by the Cambridge singers.

For more than a decade, John Rutter and the Cambridge Singers have shared the Joy of Christmas with the world. The ethereal sound of perfectly blended voices, singing the most beautiful seasonal music ever composed, never fails to touch the heart and lift the spirit. This year, John Rutter and the Cambridge Singers have assembled a new collection – compiled from the archives, including four never before released tracks! Tracks include English Traditional Carols, European Traditional Carols, Choruses and Motets and Composer’s Carols.

THESE ARE MOST DEFINITELY THE BEST CHRISTMAS SONGS EVARRRRRRR. (arrrrrr) (arrrr) (rrr)

reason:

because they sing amazing songs.

if you could hear it , it would be like, many voices, singing, in unison, words that are made up. i have never heard anything so beautiful ethereal.

what sweeter music? “thats what I said.”– Grandma Anna Redding

here are the lyrics to the one song:

Lully, lulla, thou little tiny child,
By by, lully lullay, thou little tiny child,
By by, lully lullay.
O sisters too, How may we do
For to preserve this day
This poor youngling,
For whom we do sing,
By by, lully lullay?
Lully, lulla, thou little tiny child,
By by, lully lullay, thou little tiny child,
By by, lully lullay.
Herod, the King, In his raging,
Charged he hath this day
His men of might,
In his own sight,
All young children to slay.
Lully, lulla, thou little tiny child,
By by, lully lullay, thou little tiny child,
By by, lully lullay.
That woe is me, Poor child for thee!
And ever morn and day,
For thy parting
Nor say nor sing
By by, lully lullay!

i will be friends with ANYONE who loves the cambridge singers, especially, ones who loves the songs that i DO.  look, this person loves  “what is this fragrance” too.

Lovely. My favorite carol ever, and it’s so rare to hear it performed.

here is a fan playing the song in english.
