You open your hand
and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
The LORD is righteous in all his ways
and loving toward all he has made.
The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
The LORD watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD.
Let every creature praise his holy name
for ever and ever.
Psalm 145: 16-21
It just dawned on me. For Lent, I should be focusig on God’s sacrifice, sure, but also how Jesus satisfies. When i’m without someting, I don’t need to long for it, or to pine for it, Jesus is enough for me. Giving something up for Lent isn’t about torturing yourself so you feel like you contributed to your christian walk. its about learning to be satisfied in Him. I find myself thinking about how when Lent is over i can drink juice and soda again. But really, that should not be any of my focus. I need to be satisfied– not with less, (its not about settling)– but being content in the Lord, in my relationship with Him. This is something I’m not sure I have. I’m praying that this week I will be opened up to that Love that satisfies in a new way.
